Overview of the Role:
KenMeat (EPZ) Ltd. is the largest and most modern slaughter house and meat processing facility in Eastern and Central Africa. It is established under the Export Processing Zone Authority based in EPZ Athi River, Kenya. It is an integrated abattoir operating a modern integrated meat processing complex incorporating livestock stockyards, mechanized abattoirs, carcass chillers, deboning, blast freezing, packing and cold-room warehouses.
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Quality Assurer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the required food safety standards
Responsibilities
- Documenting and reporting on quality standards per product.
- Reporting any issues (that may cause quality non conformities) with equipment or processes to the appropriate staff member for correction.
- Monitor and prioritize analysis work according to production schedules and reporting deadlines.
- Ensure all equipment in use is within the calibration status as per laid down procedures
- Monitor hygiene levels in all critical control points during production
- Following up with the proper channel when quality mistakes are found
- Ascertain that the team is fully aware of quality procedures – sensitizing the team of quality procedures
- Organize for periodic training to all food handlers on the expected hygiene levels with emphasis on food safety
- Identify areas of improvement with respect to quality standards and production volumes
- Take responsibility in the food safety as documented in the food safety management system manual
- Conducting research on new technology that could improve operations within the company
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Diploma in food Science, or related field from a recognized Institution
- Should have at least a minimum of two years’ experience
- Prior experience in a food production or slaughterhouse environment is a plus.
- Strong understanding quality procedures and food safety regulations / hygiene practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-orfented environment.
