Accountant

Responsibilities

    • Maintaining financial records, including general ledger accounts and financial statements
    • Reviewing financial documents and transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance
    • Preparation of detailed monthly management accounts and analysis
    • Preparation of bank reconciliations and financial reports and advising on mis-posting if any
    • Utilized Dynamics 365 Business Central to capture accounting data
    • Facilitated compliance with various regulatory bodies, timely payments and filing of taxes
    • Posting all monthly journals timely and accurately
    • Maintain and update fixed asset register and ensure all assets are tagged
    • Review and manage supplier contracts
    • Ensure the suppliers invoices are uploaded in the system, update the accounts payable and prepare supplier reconciliation report monthly
    • Updating financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
    • Reduced expenses through careful analysis of costs and identifying areas for cost savings
    • Assisting in handling both internal and external audit including attending to audit queries

Risk Management

  • Anticipate and mitigate key elements of the risks within the company
  • Maintain the risk registers for the company
  • Assess the financial impact of the risks stipulated in the risk registers and check whether sufficient mitigating strategies have been put in place
  • Assess and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards
  • Ascertain that the company uses appropriate insurance coverage
  • Make sure that the company comply with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that record keeping by the company meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
  • Investigate the findings of external auditors and recommendations.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Professional certification i.e as CPA (K) (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA Finalist
  • 4+ years of experience in accounting, finance or auditing
  • Knowledge of accounting software such as Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, power point presentation)
  • Good technical knowledge in tax and statutory tax requirements
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis and reporting
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Great organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and a proactive approach
  • Can maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Displays a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
