Description

Our client a medium size management consultancy firm is urgently looking for an accountant.

Job purpose

To ensure the provision of a high quality financial accounting service that supports the effective and efficient management of the financial resources, within statutory and regulatory guidelines.

To work within the management team in supporting accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and processes, and internal/external reporting requirements.

Manage the processes for budgeting, accounting, cash flow management, and administrative operations of the business to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient reporting, audit, and compliance.

Custodian of all key financial, accounting, fiduciary, and risk-mitigating responsibilities.

Duties and responsibilities shall be as follows;

  1. Maintain completeness, timeliness, accuracy, and adequacy of financial management reporting.
  2. Perform weekly and monthly bank, inventory, reconciliations, and report to management any anomaly observed.
  3. Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, receipting, and reconciliation of all revenues/payments for the company.
  4. Prepare and file all statutory taxes (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, VAT, and Income tax)
  5. Prepare annual budget for the Kenya subsidiary in consultation with the COO/MD. Monitor expenditure and ensure that budget overruns do not occur and prepare requests for possible amendments.
  6. Initiate all payments
  7. Adhere and align finance processes and transactions to the Finance Manual.
  8. Maintain and be the custodian of all financial documents and files
  9. Supervise all regular accounting processes and Journal Entries plus monthly closure of accounts.
  10. Organize all company financial programs and ensure compliance to budgetary requirements.
  11. Analyze and forecast financial requirements for organization.
  12. Preparation of VAT/Withholding tax Return workings and associated reconciliations
  13. Supervise and ensure efficient working of all financial transactions in organization.
  14. Monitor and implement all accounts payable check activation and wire transactions.
  15. Assist departments in account reconciliation process on monthly basis.
  16. Monitor authorized account reconciliation process.
  17. Invoice customers and monitor payment receipt
  18. Administer all bank transactions and oversee data recording procedures monthly.
  19. Provide support to auxiliary schedules for auditing purposes as per assigned work.
  20. Analyze different general ledger accounts regularly.
  21. Prepare journal entries and synthesize common ledger for subsidiary accounts.
  22. Collate bank statements on monthly basis.
  23. Design and prepare audit schedules for external/internal audit processes.
  24. Provide support to safe keeping of internal expenses in company.
  25. Give monthly finance reports including debtors
  26. Process all payments including payroll and taxes

Person specification-experience

  1. Experience of developing, maintaining and running financial accounting systems and computerized accounting systems.
  2. Successful track record of working with stakeholders to develop and maintain effective, open and productive working relationships.
  3. Experience of delivering priorities within strict timelines.
  4. Experience of processing payroll and using payroll systems
  5. Experience of regulation, gained by working in a regulator or regulated environment.

Knowledge including qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration / Finance / Accounting and ACCA or CPA qualification.
  2. Member of ICPAK.
  3. At least two years of relevant professional experience with ability to demonstrable achievements in book-keeping, reporting, audit and compliance.
  4. Experience with accounting systems and outstanding presentation skills.
  5. Self-starter. Meets tight deadlines and exhibits a high degree of flexibility and versatility.
  6. Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, presentation, communication and organizational skills with a demonstrable level of integrity and confidentiality.
