Position Summary:
In preparation for upcoming initiatives in East Africa, we are looking to engage qualified candidates for part-time, short-term Project Management roles. Operating remotely from their home base, the Team Leader will be instrumental in coordinating and executing administrative, financial functions within the project. This position calls for excellent organizational capabilities, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in an international development context
Responsibilities
Project Quality Assurance and Management:
- Oversee the quality of all services and deliverables provided and ensure alignment with client expectations and contractual obligations.
- Lead the development of Annual Work Plans, Manuals, and progress reports and ensure timely submission.
- Monitor project progress and address operational issues proactively to ensure timely resolution.
- Provide supervision and guidance to the project personnel to foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
- Coordinate with other staff members workload to ensure efficiency.
- Provide administrative oversight to ensure quality of service and client satisfaction.
Financial Management:
- Lead budgetary planning, resource allocation, monitoring, and financial control processes using accounting systems.
- Review and refine financial reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual) to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Approve budgets and financial reports and oversee budget adjustments in coordination with Cowater HQ.
- Manage procurement processes for technical services, standing offers, goods, and other project requirements.
- Administer contracts, including amendments and terminations, ensuring compliance with procurement policies.
- Authorize payments to suppliers.
Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination:
- Serve as a key point of contact for visiting missions and stakeholders, providing advice on the structure and functions of local ministries and guiding culturally appropriate engagement strategies.
- Maintain ongoing communication with donors/clients.
- Schedule and prepare agendas for monthly management meetings.
- Liaise with headquarters, government counterparts, and other relevant project stakeholders as needed.
- Build and sustain networks with key actors, including government, civil society, donors, and the private sector.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in project management, particularly in international development or a related field.
- Strong financial management, procurement, and administrative skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with donor-funded project operations is an asset.
