Kitui County is located 170Km to the South East of Nairobi City. It covers an area of about 30,496 km2. It borders Machakos and Makueni Counties to the West, Tana River County to the East, Taita-Taveta County to the South, and Embu and Tharaka- Nithi Counties to the North. it is about two and half hours’ drive from Nairobi and 30 minutes flight by a chopper. Population: 1,147,200 Female: 602,002 Male: 545,195 Growth Rate: 2.1% The Kitui Vision for Economic and Social Transformation Following its mandate as a County, The County Government of Kitui developed this long-term development blue print, “Kitui Vision for economic and social transformation” aimed at guiding its economic and social development for the next ten years up to the year 2025. The envisaged County long-term development blue print covers the economic and investment zones which were endorsed by stakeholders in November 2013.

Requirements for Appointment

  1. Be a Kenyan Citizen;
  2. Diploma in Sound production or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  3. Must be conversant with editing Software such as Cool Edit Pro, Pro Tools and Adobe Audition for editing and production purposes;
  4. Must be fully conversant with Cubase Pro Music Production software;
  5. Conversant with contemporary and future trends and dynamics of the Sound industry; and
  6. Experience in radio production will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assessing the acoustics of the performance area, assemble and operate the necessary equipment;
  • Consulting with producers and performers to determine the sound requirements;
  • Selecting, positioning, adjusting and operating the equipment used for amplification and recording;
  • Applying technical knowledge of sound recording equipment to achieve the determined artistic objectives;
  • Recording sound onto digital audio tape or hard disk recorders;
  • Monitoring audio signals to detect sound-quality deviations or malfunctions;
  • Anticipating and correcting any problems;
  • Maintaining and repairing sound equipment.
  • Integrating (synchronise) pre-recorded audio (dialogue, sound effects and music) with visual content;
  • Re-recording and synchronising audio (post-syncing);
  • Mixing and balancing speech, effects and music;
  • Creating and altering sound effects for use in films, television, etc; and
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by a competent authority.

Salary Scale:

The salary, allowances and other benefits attached to the above positions will be as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
