Kitui County is located 170Km to the South East of Nairobi City. It covers an area of about 30,496 km2. It borders Machakos and Makueni Counties to the West, Tana River County to the East, Taita-Taveta County to the South, and Embu and Tharaka- Nithi Counties to the North. it is about two and half hours’ drive from Nairobi and 30 minutes flight by a chopper. Population: 1,147,200 Female: 602,002 Male: 545,195 Growth Rate: 2.1% The Kitui Vision for Economic and Social Transformation Following its mandate as a County, The County Government of Kitui developed this long-term development blue print, “Kitui Vision for economic and social transformation” aimed at guiding its economic and social development for the next ten years up to the year 2025. The envisaged County long-term development blue print covers the economic and investment zones which were endorsed by stakeholders in November 2013.

Requirements for Appointment

1. Be a Kenyan Citizen;
2. Have served satisfactorily in the grade of Security Officer I, Job Group ‘K’ for at least three (3) years;
3. Possess Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
4. Have acquired the Adult First Aid Certificate;
5. Valid Basic First Aid Certificate;
6. Attended Approved Security Course at Administration Police Training College (APTC), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Training Schools, Military Training Institute or other similar institutions; and
7. Have undergone a management course at a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Responsible for training of staff under him/her;
2. Maintaining records of acts of unlawful interference;
3. Updating of emergency procedures and contingency planning;
4. Maintaining crimes and incidents records and charts;
5. Conducting security surveys;
6. Inspections and threat assessment;
7. Investigations and prosecution;
8. Making periodic returns on operational affairs;
9. Planning and designing of security documents such as passes and registers;
10. Attending security meetings; and
11. Any other duty as may be assigned by a competent authority.

Salary Scale:

The salary, allowances and other benefits attached to the above positions will be as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
