Description

The Security and Safety Officer 1 advises the delegation/site on security risk assessment and associated mitigating measures while ensuring proper diffusion and access to information related to security in line with Duty of Care obligations. Under the supervision of the Security and Safety Officer 2, the Security and Safety Officer 1 will monitor the security operations and implement security policies/regulations/rules while making sure that the environment in the organization is safe for the employees and visitors misconduct or violations of ICRC internal policies and procedures, ensuring best practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES

  • University Degree or Diploma in Criminology/Security Management or related studies;
  • Experience with Military or National Police Services (minimum rank of Corporal and 5 years' experience);
  • Minimum five years' experience with Military or National Police Services (minimum rank of Corporal) or in a similar function from recognized organizations;
  • Valid driving license with a minimum of five years' experience;
  • MUST be Computer Proficient;
  • Certificate of good conduct.

Responsibilities

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a high level of general concern for workplace safety, amongst all staff through implementation of various policies and procedures;
  • Analyses and evaluates security operations to identify risks or opportunities for improvement such as the implementation of new technology;
  • Supports the management in assessing the safety of locations used by the delegation (offices, residences, hotels, training sites etc);
  • Develops and implements security policies, protocols, and procedures;
  • Communicates with the Security and Safety Officer 2 on security status, updates, and actual or potential problems, using established protocols;
  • Plans, directs, or coordinates security activities, including high-risk events to safeguard company assets, employees, guests, or others on company property;
  • Respond to medical emergencies, bomb threats, fire alarms, or intrusion alarms, following emergency response procedures;
  • Assists in all traffic incidents – liaison with police, prepares incident report and assesses responsibility;
  • Identifies investigates, or resolves security breaches;
  • Ensures the serviceability of electronic security surveillance appliances, firefighting equipment, electrical fences and alarm systems through regular controls and testing;
  • Coordinates security operations or activities with public law enforcement, fire and other agencies;
  • Monitors the effective implementation of and compliance with security rules and procedures and advises the Management/Line manager on implication in case of non-compliance;
  • Trains, supervises and manages security officers and guards and supports other staff holding basic security;
  • Documents/elaborates reports on security-related events within their remit and shares them with the Head of Department or makes presentations on internal investigations, losses, or violations of regulations, policies and procedures.
