Sanergy is an award-winning social venture that builds healthy, prosperous communities by making hygienic sanitation accessible and affordable in Africa’s urban informal settlements. Our systems-based approach to solving the sanitation crisis involves five key steps: we build a dense network of franchised micro-entrepreneurs, who operate low-cost, high-quality waterless sanitation facilities – called Fresh Life Toilets. We provide critical support services – such as access to finance, business analytics, training, and marketing. We collect the waste regularly and safely remove it from the community. We convert the waste into valuable end products, such as organic fertilizer, insect-based animal feed, and renewable energy. Finally, we sell the end products to Kenyan farms under the brand name Farm Star.

About the role

We are seeking a Project Management Intern who will support the design and engineering teams on Sanergy’s existing breeding facility to implement key retrofits and design changes to the current operating facility.

The project associate role entails supporting and assisting project leads and project management team in, procurement and construction projects within the EPC department at Sanergy The role summarised will entail assisting project leads with stakeholder management, cash flow and payment tracking, project status updates and status overview, implementing solutions to project risks

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supporting the coordination and management of projects.
  2. Collects organize, and compile field data into required reports that are distributed on a timely basis
  3. Understand and guide teams on how to use the EPC framework
  4. Project risk identification and mitigation drafting
  5. Monitors project on a page and MS. Projects  tracking sheets for accuracy and consistency of data;
  6. Assists in collecting project data for Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reports, where applicable;
  7. Builds a strong relationship with project leads in design and execution to ensure timely collection of data;
  8. Assists in updating of dashboard  presentations that showcase EPC project delivery KPIs;
  9. Utilizes IT applications to extract and present relevant data elements, including MS Projects, G-suite, Odoo, Salesforce, and Asana
  10. Communicating with stakeholders regarding project needs and goals.
  11. Contributing to the planning and development of projects.
  12. Performing administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings with project leads and/or external stakeholders
  13. Keeping track of reporting on project progress and cashflow spend
  14. Update budgets with actual project cashflow spend and raise flags when necessary
  15. Completing any tasks assigned by the Project Manager in an efficient and timely manner.
  16. Develop framework, standards, templates for all internal project management processes
  17. Provide training and feedback to the engineering teams to ensure full adoption of the framework
  18. Ensure design and engineering teams are delivering projects on time and within budget
  19. Engage all internal and external stakeholders to ensure blocks are flagged and cleared early
  20. Provide feedback to stakeholder responses and requests to technical teams are responded to within the agreed timescale

Qualifications

  1. Degree and/or Diploma in Project Management and/or Procurement
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate
  3. A high level of organizational skills and attention to detail
  4. The ability to meet deadlines and work autonomously
  5. Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Sanergy in an ethical and professional manner.
