JOB PURPOSE:
To ensure that raw milk is always available and in the right quantity and quality for the production of quality milk and dairy products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement strategies to ensure sustained optimal milk-intake levels
- Oversee recruiting and training milk suppliers
- Develop relationships and networks with stakeholders in the cluster
- Implement strategies for extension services to farmers
- Coordinating field activities such as field days and agricultural shows within the cluster
- Attending to all internal and external matters relating to milk procurement in the
- cluster.
- Handling farmers and milk supplier’s concerns
- Ensuring plant operations are cost effective
- Reporting plant issues to the head office
- Controlling and monitoring all resources
- Supporting events such as Farmers Field Days, workshops and forums
- Ensuring the milk received is of good quality
- Any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
Qualifications and Personal Specifications:
- A minimum period of eight (8) years in relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in supervisory role in a position in the Public Service or Private Sector.
- Master’s degree in animal science, Animal production, veterinary science or any other relevant qualifications is an added advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in in animal science, Animal production, veterinary science or
- Equivalent qualifications.
- Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Good Communication skills
- Demonstrated results in work performance; and
- Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution
