Description
- Bachelors of Pharmacy degree from an institution recognized by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- Successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognized institution; At least 2 years experience working in a busy oncology pharmacy.
Registration license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board; and - Computer application skills Certificate from a recognized institution.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Reports to oncologist
- Provide and oversee direct patient care,
- Offer patient education and participate in clinical decision making.
- Minimize drug waste, manage drug shortages, and decrease exposure to hazardous drugs.
- Supervise the performance of all infusion compounding technicians.
- Ensure that all biologic and oncology preparations are prepared and dispensed in an accurate and safe manner to all patients.
- Provide accurate and up-to-date pharmacy consultation
- Reduced wait time for pharmacy infusion services provided to patients by having an on site pharmacist check chemotherapy preparation.
- In collaboration with the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) and other stakeholders, coordinate Essential Medicines Supplies distribution and redistribution
- Serve as oncology focal liaison officer for Appropriate Medicines Use/Medicines and Therapeutics Committee
- Participate in operational research
- Provide periodic feedback to the County Pharmacist
- Compile reports and transmit them to relevant offices (for example performance contracts, commodities-related reports, et cetera).
- Coordinate disposal of expired medicines and unusable medicines with the
relevant departments and regulatory authorities
- Coordinate and oversee internship/attachment programme for pharmaceutical personnel
- Prepare and implement oncology pharmaceutical services Annual Operating Plans (AOPs)
- Coordinate pharmaceutical services at the oncology center
- Implement capacity-building training programmes for pharmaceutical staff at the oncology center
- Maintenance of personal professional competency and participation in the continued professional development by self-study, attendance at scientific meetings, and participation in internal training programs.
