National Soil Laboratories Specialist Job. NGO Jobs In Kenya
Responsibilities
- The National Soil Laboratories Specialist will perform the following key functions:
- Oversee the processing of soil samples for wet and dry chemistry analysis in Kenya.
- Collaborate with project partners and laboratories to ensure accurate and timely soil analysis results.
- Support quality assurance and quality control measures for soil analysis processes, including the establishment of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Support the organization of capacity-building activities, such as workshops and trainings, to enhance national capacities in soil analysis and data management.
- Support the implementation of laboratory equipment procurement activities of the project.
- Track progress and assess the quality of soil analysis and harmonization activities.
- Facilitate the establishment of national soil laboratory network in Kenya.
- Provide input to project monitoring and reporting frameworks to ensure the effective implementation of soil analysis and harmonization efforts.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by FAOR.

Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Soil Science, Crop Science, Agricultural Economics or any related fields.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive work experience in soil analysis [i.e. wet and dry chemistry] in public or private agricultural laboratories is required.
- Working knowledge (level C) of English and Kiswahili
- Must be a National of Kenya

- Experience in managing soil laboratory operations

- Adequate evidence of technical understanding of the soil sampling procedures and providing recommendations to farmers in tropical conditions
