Responsibilities
- Drive operationalization of the Rainforest Alliance’s Impact Framework, especially in Africa and Asia, with a focus on aligning RA’s L&C project portfolio with the Impact Framework
- Ensure project M&E is standardized, embedding Impact Framework indicators
- Ensure that storage and reporting of project data are standardized, that project data are available and can be aggregated to report overall impact of the project portfolio
- Serve as Africa and Asia Pacific primary point of contact for capacity building, coaching and mentoring of project staff and partners on L&C M&E frameworks, processes and tools
- Ensure all L&C project managers (PMs), M&E staff and partners in Africa and Asia- Pacific adopt, maintain and use the Impact Framework to standardize project reporting and RA’s Project Management Platform (PMP) as their central system for evidence-based project technical performance monitoring;
- Lead Africa and Asia Pacific teams on the design of improved approaches, processes and tools, including GIS-based, aimed at supporting L&C project M&E frameworks, resolving data generation and management issues, and enhancing results-based project management;
- Present (often technically complex) L&C M&E frameworks, processes and tools to internal and external stakeholders
- On a demand-based basis, support local teams and regional Institutional Relations and M&E staff in Africa and Asia Pacific in preparing L&C project initiatives, ensuring RA´s best project design practices (e.g., robust Theories of Change and Logframes, adequate M&E project budgets, and other relevant best practice);
- Proactively support the organization in achieving its 2030 Strategy, especially by working with other M&E colleagues to ensure our work is set up to drive impact along six impact pathways that constitute the organization´s Impact Framework;
- Work closely with the Thriving Landscapes M&E team to ensure consistency and coordination within the organization’s programs and landscapes approaches;
- Cultivate a culture of positive and proactive collaboration, engage widely and inclusively across the organization, clearly demonstrating taking broad perspectives into consideration, and embed continuous learning and simplification into all aspects of programmatic work; and;
- Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in agriculture, forestry or other relevant field
- At least 7+ years of progressive, relevant experience in designing and implementing monitoring & evaluation systems, of which the majority in the field of tropical agriculture and/or forestry
- At least 6 years of management level experience in M&E data collection methodologies improving producer and market value;
- Demonstrated ability (5 years’) in M&E data quality assurance and analysis
- Demonstrated capacity to communicate impacts in a visually appealing way and that focuses on the key information required;
- Extraordinary commitment, energy and a positive approach;
- Knowledge of sustainable development issues and commitment to Rainforest Alliance’s goals of strengthening livelihoods and securing human rights; conserving forests and other high-value ecosystems; restoring production systems and rural landscapes; and mitigating climate change and building climate resilience;
- Thorough understanding of landscapes programs and frameworks (e.g., 1000 Landscapes and LandScale) preferred;
- Direct experience working with agricultural producers (small, medium and large) and/or forest communities preferred;
- Key management competencies: Transformational leadership, innovation, adaptability, persuasion, critical and reflective thinking, public speaking, resourcefulness, relationship builder based on trust, empathy and openness, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a time critical manner;
- Experience in using GIS software and data collection tools is a plus;
- High quality spoken and written English.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager, Impact Framework (IF) - Landscapes & Communities (L&C) will be a subject matter expert in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and in project design, management, and reporting. They will collaborate closely with the Impact Director to spearhead the organization-wide implementation of the Rainforest Alliance’s Impact Framework. They will also work closely with the Senior Advisor L&C M&E, local L&C teams in Africa and Asia Pacific, to ensure all L&C project managers (PMs), M&E staff and partners in Africa and Asia-Pacific align project design on RA’s impact framework and adopt, maintain and use RA’s Project Management Platform (PMP) as their central system for evidence-based project technical performance monitoring.
They will be RA´s regional expert on Monitoring and Evaluation and will ideally be proficient in data quality check and data analysis. On a demand-based basis, they will support local teams and regional staff in Africa and Asia Pacific in preparing L&C project initiatives, ensuring RA´s best project design practices are employed (e.g., robust Theories of Change and Logframes aligned with the Impact Framework, adequate M&E project budgets, etc.). They will play a critical role in centralizing, quality checking and analysing project data across RA’s portfolio to produce impact insights and dashboards.
