Our client, a family-owned but independently run Dairy food processing company in Nyamira County, Kenya is seeking to recruit the expertise of an IT System Administrator. He/ She will be responsible for maintaining web environment by identifying systems requirements, installing upgrades and monitoring systems performance. The successful candidates Must have 10 years’ working experience in a similar position using sage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishing web system specifications by analyzing access, information and security requirements and designing system infrastructure.
  • Establishing web systems by planning and executing the selection, installation, and configuration.
  • Testing server hardware, software and operating and system management systems.
  • Defining system and operational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain web performance by performing system monitoring and analysis and performance tuning.
  • Troubleshooting system hardware, software and operating and system management systems.
  • Designing and running system load/ stress testing and escalating application problems to vendors.
  • Securing web system by developing system access, monitoring, control and evaluation.
  • Establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures.
  • Completing backups and maintain documentation.
  • Upgrades web system by conferring with vendors and services and developing, testing and evaluating.
  • Installing enhancements and new software.
  • Meeting financial requirements by submitting information for budgets and monitoring expenses.
  • Updating job knowledge by tracking emerging internet technologies.
  • Participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  • Maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishing organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
  • Exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a relevant bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or IT.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT or database administration.
  • Must be Proficient in using Sage Evolution.
  • Must have experience in multiple OS platforms with a strong emphasis on Sage.
  • Must have experience working in a research environment that relies on Open source solutions.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite, security architecture.
  • Must be knowledgeable in securing and hardening operating systems, networks, and databases.
  • Must have knowledge of the incident response life cycle.
  • Security certifications, database administrator certificate.
