Description

The HR & Admin Assistant will be responsible for assisting in all HR and Admin operations in the organization in accordance with the company’s strategies and short term /long-term objectives.

Reporting Line

This position reports directly to the Head of Human Resource & Administration

Responsibilities

  • Building and implementing HR Strategies –Assist in development and implementation of the annual HR business plan derived from the overall strategic plan. Provide human resource input and support to strategic planning and management process.
  • Recruitment and onboarding- Proactively plan for human resources and manage staff acquisition process including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
  • People Management
  • Performance management- Monitoring probation periods for new staff, participate in end of probation performance appraisals and issue confirmation letters. Monitor the implementation of the performance improvement process with non-performing employees.
  • Training and Development Assist the Training and capacity lead in training needs analysis and or HR Mapping of the organization. Prepare a training calendar for the overall organization and maintain training records. Organize for internal and external training sessions for all staff including new employee onboarding or orientation and on the job training.
  • Employee relations-ensure appropriate internal communication at all staff levels. Facilitate a harmonious co-existence amongst employees and the leadership team.
  • Provide guidance to management on disciplinary matters and interpretation of the organization’s HR policies and procedures. Effectively manage grievance and disciplinary procedures in accordance with the company policy and relevant legislation.
  • Employee welfare-manage staff welfare programmes which include staff pension, medical scheme, and Work Injury benefits cover. Propose and implement staff welfare programs aimed at increasing overall employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Administration- Manage the administration function in the organization this includes but not limited to; office utilities, Office communication and correspondence company assets, company transportation, deliveries, office service providers (insurance medical cover and office internet) and organizing/coordinating office meetings.

Qualifications

  • Degree in BCOM, BBA, BBM with a specialization in Human Resource Management or a degree in relevant social Sciences.
  • Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management (CHRM) or CHRP finalist
  • Member of the Institute of Human Resource Management
  • Two (2) years’ experiences, in a busy Human Resource environment

  • Experience in managing enterprise customer expectations.
  • Ability to protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Excellent mastery of practice area skills, with extensive knowledge of the Human resource function.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Strong ethics, reliability, and integrity
  • In depth understanding of the Kenyan labour laws
