United States International University – Africa is located in the Kasarani area, off Thika Road in the suburb of Kenya’s capital city of Nairobi. The university is an independent, not-for-profit institution serving 6512 students representing 69 nationalities. It offers 24 degree programs from undergraduate to doctoral level, all of which are accredited in Kenya and the United States of America.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Housing Officer, the holder of this position will be responsible for supporting the day to day running of the hostel reception.

Job Responsibilities

  1. The delivery of the highest levels of good customer service.
  2. To be a first point of contact for all who come to Hostels including staff, visitors and clients.
  3. To welcome staff, visitors and clients, sign clients and visitors in and out accurately and ensure that access is granted accordingly.
  4. To operate the switchboard, redirecting calls or taking messages as appropriate.
  5. To take in post, parcels and other delivered items; sort and distribute accordingly.
  6. Providing a professional and welcoming environment for all clients.
  7. Liaise with Housing Officer and Resident assistants to arrange for appointments for any assessments.
  8. Be aware of the general wellbeing of the residence highlighting any concerns to the housing officer.
  9. Ensure that the reception and surrounding area remain clean and tidy at all times and ensure that information displayed about the housing section is up to date.
  10. Ensure that the Reception Handover book and any supporting information is maintained on a regular basis.
  11. Ensure that any personal information received verbally or in writing is treated confidentially and is only passed on to appropriate colleagues.
  12. Handle hostel security duties to enhance harmony and take corrective measures where necessary.

Educational Qualifications

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C– (minus).
  2. Diploma in Front Office Operations.
  3. Proficiency in Computer Applications.
