Head of Logistics & Inventory

Job Purpose
Reports to Managing Director, Head of logistics & inventory will be responsible for managing all the company’s Inventory & transportation and ensure optimal utilization of resources.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintaining an inventory of product at all times within the supply chain and ensuring accountability of finished products and crates in the depots
2. Providing critical advice on the position of available stock on a daily basis and re-ordering levels at the different stages of the supply chain
3. Coordinate order placement between sales department and production department in line with daily and monthly and annual projections
4. Managing Movement of Raw Milk within the supply chain and inter-creamery transfer of finished products
5. Managing the utilization of company owned vehicles and hired transport to ensure proper usage and ensure most efficient route is used to minimize transportation costs.
6. Liaising with the Sales department to transport products between the depots and the market as and when required.
7. Liaise with the workshop on vehicle service records, schedules for maintenance repairs, and motor vehicle insurance.
Person specifications
• A minimum period of twelve (12) years relevant work experience and at least five (5) years in a senior management role in comparable and relevant position.
• MSc or MBA in Supply Chain Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management or Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting /Management /Procurement or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Diploma in Supply Chain Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
• Proficiency in computer applications from a recognized institution
• Member of KISM or equivalent in good standing.
• Working knowledge of an ERP system
• Valid driving license
