Overview: The Job holder will be responsible for supervision of Maternity centre staff and management of the maternity program. S/he will assist the management team in implementing, and managing the policies, procedures, and regulations related to all facets of CFK at the Tabitha maternity centre and Tabitha clinics

Responsibilities
• Supervision of all staff in the maternity centre including nurses, clinical officers, and support staff lab technologists, pharmaceutical technologist.
• In charge of duty rosta for staffing at the maternity premise.
• Ensure commodity and supply control.
• Review the quality of midwifery and nurse care services and in coordination with the PHC and clinical team to develop a plan for continuous on the job training and education to improve nursing practices of the staff.
• Ensure appropriate and timely referrals of Obstetric and Gynecological cases to the referral sites.
• Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of new centre staff
• Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for each clinical area (e.g. deliveries, lab, pharmacy, referrals, IPC).
• Provide leadership and mentorship to centre staff, including on-job training, skills building and direct patient care.
• Perform bi-annual staff appraisals using formal, consistent guidelines that address performance and organizational policies. Meet regularly with staff to develop individual employee objectives and work plans, and recognize staff for their achievements
• Establish clear lines of communication with staff, including distinct reporting mechanisms
• Serve as point-person on grants supporting the maternity center.
• Collaborate with the program coordinator to create work plans for the centre staff, including programs to implement and the staff and support services that the programs require.
• Work closely with the community health outreach program to support demand creation for maternity services including training and mentorship for CHVs.
• Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of new centre staff.
• Coordinate outside trainings for staff, and arrange for on-site trainings to promote professional development. Assist in the organization of CMEs for staff in the centre and at other facilities as may be organized by our partners according to the policy.
• Ensure continual improvement of the workflow of the department, the working conditions of staff and the visit experience of the patient. Contribute ideas and carry out the suggestions as the lead of the quality improvement group.
• Help maintain partnerships and communication with MoH, and any other current or potential partners and attend workshops as designated by the program coordinator.
• Revise and update maternity centre protocols and manuals as needed, and assist with other institutional capacity building activities.
• Build a healthy organizational culture in regards to the social, spiritual and economic welfare of the staff, including staff time and space for rest, relaxation, and recuperation away from work. Encourage team building and camaraderie through all staff meetings, workshops, and outings.
• In collaboration with the M&E Officer, conduct monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure continued success of the program.
• Organize, facilitate, and document at least monthly department meetings to discuss issues, implement improvement measures, and ensure information and communication flow.
• Ensure the timely collection of data and submission of monthly reports for all maternity care programs to the program coordinator.
• Compile and submit monthly department budget to the program coordinator and Finance Manager and ensure department spending is in line with approved monthly budget
• Review consumption data for the pharmacy, cwc, fp and lab on monthly basis.
• Other duties as assigned by the program coordinator.

Qualifications
• Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
• Diploma as Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse with minimum 5-years’ experience Nursing experience in busy facility.
• Registered Nurse with Nursing Council of Kenya.
• 5-years clinical management experience.
