Job Purpose:
- The role requires a seasoned business development professional with solid business acumen, a strong business development track record, and a deep understanding of the East African investment & asset management industry that will be their responsibility to manage.
Responsibilities of the Director of Business Development Job
- Implement the company’s strategy to grow business lines across the region.
- Understand market trends, the client needs and develop strategies to close the resulting opportunities.
- Build and manage a portfolio of top tier portfolios across the region.
- Oversee the sales process from lead development to contracting to account growth.
- Build and manage relationships with key C-level decision-makers across multiple countries.
- Work closely with the country director to develop and execute account plans and strategies.
- Achieve regional account acquisition and revenue targets.
- Make presentations to company executives and management teams to highlight business or marketing opportunities also present the results of new strategies.
- Prepare documents and information for requests for proposals (RFPs). To create new opportunities for business growth and enhanced operations.
- Qualifications of the Director of Business Development Job
Strong networking capabilities at the senior level. The ideal candidate should already possess an existing Investment & Asset Management/financial industry network.
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business
Management, Finance, or any other relevant field
- Postgraduate qualification would be an added advantage
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the financial industry, with at least 8 years spent in business development roles.
- Extensive investment product knowledge and understanding of financial concepts with the ability to articulate a variety of investment topics ranging from fundamental asset classes to alternative investments.
- Self-driven individual with a high degree of resilience.
- Strong goal and results orientation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with cross-cultural competency.
- Have good business acumen, outstanding negotiation skills and the ability to present and influence deals at senior management level.
- A team player with the ability to manage relationships with multiple stakeholders
Public speaking capability.
