Responsibilities
FUNCTIONS
- Develop complete system designs for solar PV and hybrid (PV + BESS) projects, including site layout, electrical schematics, and mechanical arrangements.
- Conduct post-feasibility site visits and assessments to inform detailed designs.
- Prepare design documentation including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), cable routing plans, string sizing, and BOMs.
- Support the portfolio development team to prepare performance simulations and yield analysis using software tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or HomerPro.
- Collaborate with procurement to specify components and validate suppliers’ technical offerings.
- Support the preparation of technical proposals and bid documents with the business development team.
- Ensure that all designs meet local and international standards, codes, and safety requirements.
- Work closely with the construction and installation teams to ensure that designs are executed accurately on-site.
- Assist in troubleshooting and redesigning systems when deviations or site-specific issues arise.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by integrating innovative technologies and tools into the design process.
ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in solar PV system design and engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, and related design software.
- Experience designing both on-grid and off-grid systems, preferably with battery storage.
- Strong technical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
