St. Luke’s Orthopaedic and Trauma Hospital is an ultra-modern hospital started in the year 2012, after operating as a clinic and an orthopaedics supplier since year 2005.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the dentist and COHO during a variety of treatment procedures.
- Taking and recording dental radiographs (x-rays).
- Asking about the patient’s medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse.
- Serving as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment. Also sharpening dental equipment.
- Ensuring that patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment.
- Providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
- Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;(e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counselling).
- Performing office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer.
- Helping to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, paediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery.
- Maintaining dental equipment and x-ray machine.
- Maintaining dental equipment inventory.
- Fabricating temporary restorations and custom impressions from preliminary impressions.
- Follow company policies to ensure proper discretion and procedures are used.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
- Certification in an accredited dental assistance program.
- Proven 1-year work experience as a Dental Assistant.
- Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Consistently have professional appearance and attitude.
- Able to provide great patient care.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations (OSHA).
