The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations that is concerned with international public health. It was established on 7 April 1948, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

Purpose of consultancy

To contribute to the data management processes for the WHO CAP platform, including development of data model, reference tables, pipelines, maintenance of Power BI analysis, API connections, integration of new surveys into the MHP data mart, and communication with stakeholders

Deliverables

  • Deliverable 1: An optimized data model that is compatible with the various sources of data collected on medicines pricing and availability.
  • Deliverable 2: Updated reference tables and pipelines to connect the WHO CAP platform to the MHP mart.
  • Deliverable 3: Revised Power BI report with new data collected through the WHO CAP platform and other sources of country surveys.
  • Deliverable 4: Documentation on detailed changes implemented in MHP Mart and Power BI analysis with links to relevant backup files.

Qualifications, experience, skills and languages

Educational Qualifications:

Essential:

  • A first-level university degree in the area of computer science, information technology, public or global health, or a closely related field.

Desirable:

  • A master’s degree or post-graduate diploma in one of the fields mentioned above.

Experience

Essential:

  • At least two years of relevant working experience in data management and data engineering.
  • Experience working with ETL tools.
  • Experience with data analysis in Power BI.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in related area(s) of work dealing with databases using xMart and SQL.
  • Work experience in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.

Skills/Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Excellent organizational and data management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Understanding of working with WHO, the wider UN system, civil society, academic institutions, the private sector and governments.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and Azure DevOps.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, Azure, Power BI and SQL
