Description

Our Client, National Housing Corporation (NHC) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament Cap. 117 whose mandate is to implement the Government’s Housing Policies and Programmes. NHC is seeking to recruit results-driven and highly motivated individuals to fill the following exciting and challenging positions of Architect.

The Technical Operations Division consists of the following sections: Engineering, Quantity survey, Land survey, and Architecture. Combined, these sections deliver on the mandate of the division; namely: land surveying and title documentation, project evaluation, designing of housing projects, and project management.

Reporting to the Chief Architect, the Architect will:

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and supervise construction projects for the Corporation;
  • Lead and coordinate the project team for the assigned construction projects;
  • Establish viability and carry out feasibility studies of projects;
  • Prepare outline project proposals and submit to Chief Architect for approval;
  • Prepare scheme design drawings, submit and get approval by statutory authorities;
  • Supervise the preparation of working drawings and details by Architectural Assistants;
  • Supervise contractors during construction to ensure that works are executed to the contract specifications and manage the project process to ensure completion within the contract budget and period;
  • Supervise repair works of existing rental scheme

Requirements

Job Specifications

  • Hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture or equivalent from a recognized University;
  • Have six (6) years of practical working experience in Architectural work;
  • Be a registered Architect with the Board of Registration of Architects & Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS) for a minimum of three (3) years; and
  • Have working knowledge of computer-aided design packages and good oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of computerized systems relevant to the position.
  • A highly analytical individual with the ability to gather, analyze and evaluate facts and with the ability to prepare and present concise oral and written reports;
  • Demonstrate excellent managerial and leadership skills and an effective communicator;
  • Personal integrity with good work ethics and knowledge of principles of good corporate governance;
  • Ability to establish and retain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Candidates will be required to satisfy the following additional requirements:

  • Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority;
  • Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board;
  • Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations;
  • Report from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau; and
  • Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission

Benefits

Remuneration & Employment Terms

Grade 10 – Gross: Ksh. 137,703 – 191,840 Per month

All positions will be on a three (3) year renewable contract.

Successful candidates will be subject to performance contracting
