Description

Our client, a well-established logistics company, is seeking to recruit an accounts receivable accountant. The overall purpose of this role is to ensure accurate and efficient processing and monitoring of incoming payments, and securing revenue.

Reporting to the Chief Accountant

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Involved in developing the company credit policy in liaison with sales, financial and procurement management
  2. Undertake complex reconciliations and compile documentation for legal action
  3. Obtain sufficient information to assess the credit worthiness of new and existing customers
  4. Improve departmental processes and procedures e.g. invoicing, follow up and query management
  5. Negotiate with clients e.g. credit information, credit insurance and debt collection agencies
  6. Categorize customers by investment level risk, and review as appropriate
  7. Liaise with the finance director to stop any supply of goods to overdue accounts, can instigate legal proceedings
  8.  Protect the company’s interests at creditors meetings relating to insolvent customers
  9.  Involved in internal and external audit exercise to provide information
  10. Maintain up to date billing system through accurate and timely invoicing
  11. Constant review of ageing analysis to ensure compliance with company’s collection policies
  12. Monitor and resolve customer account details for non-payment, delayed payment and other irregularities
  13. Maintain accounts receivable customer files and records with all credit policies in place
  14. Follow up on, collect, ensure banking and allocate payments
  15. Prepare cash flow projections for the organization on a weekly basis
  16. Post financial data on QuickBooks and any other accounting tool

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or any business related field
  2. Certified Public Accountant CPA-K
  3. 5 years’ experience as an accounts receivable, preferably in logistics or manufacturing
  4. Excellent understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  5. Excellent grasp of Financial and Management Accounting; Taxation and relevant legislation.
  6. Good analytical skills and should demonstrate decision making capabilities
