In its pilot phase in 2001, CDTD was known as Domestic Support Services, and initially served 5 girls from Kibera. Sensitive to the needs of Kenyan women, Ms. Murogo soon expanded her program and officially registered the Centre as an NGO in 2003. Since its registration, she has adopted numerous programs in order to best assist the disadvantaged. While the Domestic Workers program remains the focal point of the program, CDTD now houses a Literacy Program, Continued Education Program, Rescue and Rehabilitation Program, and Refugee Rehabilitation Program. In total, CDTD’s size has multiplied 600 times since its birth in 2001.More than 10,000 individuals have been transformed through CDTD’s work. Today the organization operates as a fully fledged NGO that addresses the welfare of domestic workers; both children and adults
Responsibilities
- Design and develop visually compelling content using tools like Canva and AI-powered platforms
- Manage CDTD’s social media accounts (Meta, LinkedIn, X) with consistency and creativity
- Draft, edit, and proofread communication materials such as newsletters, reports, social media posts, and blogs
- Assist in developing media kits, success stories, and digital campaigns
- Support internal and external communications, including donor updates and event coverage
- Monitor social media trends and analytics to optimize performance
- Ensure brand consistency, accuracy, and ethical standards in all communication outputs
- Contribute to concept development for events, advocacy campaigns, and publications
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- A degree in Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, or a related field
- At least 1year of experience in communications role in non-profit or development sectors.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Proven experience in managing and growing organizational social media platforms
- Strong working knowledge of Canva, basic design tools, and familiarity with AI-powered content generation tools
- A creative mind with a sharp eye for detail and visual storytelling
- Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and multitask under pressure
- High ethical standards and sound judgment in handling sensitive content
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Bonus Skills (Desirable but not mandatory):
- Experience in photography, video editing, or animation
- Familiarity with email marketing tools like Mailchimp or Substack
- Basic knowledge of advocacy communication and rights-based messaging
- Resource mobilization and fundraising experience is an added advantage
