Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely drive project vehicles as assigned for study activities by the study leadership
- Carry out daily routine checks on the vehicle before driving ensuring good condition of all parts and valid maintenance and service status.
- Ensure maximum security of vehicle and all their accessories.
- Ensure safety of passengers and cargo in the vehicle during transportation
- Monitor condition and performance of vehicle and promptly and timely report requirements to study administrator.
- Carry out minor repairs and adjustments on the vehicle, and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
- Maintain record of movements and status of vehicles assigned to them
- Submit reports on vehicles as required by the study administrator
- Report any accidents and incidents experienced to the administrator in a timely way.
- Transport staff members to various participants for study activities.
- Assist in purchase, delivery and distribution of study supplies as needed
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the study leadership.
Vacancy Requirements:
- KCSE School Certificate or equivalent Mandatory
- Valid Driving License class BCE Mandatory
- Certificate of Defensive Driving Course will be added advantage. Added Advantage
- Current Certificate of Good Conduct Required. Mandatory
- At least five years proven experience as a safe driver on highways. Mandatory
- Basic Automotive Mechanical skills and sound knowledge about vehicles. Mandatory
- Must be a good communicator, good listener, patient, proactive and can follow instructions. Mandatory
- Good eyesight, neat and good interpersonal skills Mandatory
- Good knowledge of the local community and traffic rules Mandatory
- Good clinical practice in a research environment
- Administering study survey tools
- Consenting of study participants
- Conducting study procedures with the study staff, which includes, but not limited to: anthropometric measurements, performing ultrasonography and any other outcome measures as stipulated in the study Standard Operating Procedures
- Organizing CMEs in the study sites.
- Work with the community health promoters and the nurses in the Maternal and Child Health department to execute the required study procedures
- Proper record keeping and filling of study documents
- Any other skills as deemed necessary by the study leadership

- Diploma of degree in community health Nursing and midwifery Mandatory
- Recently qualified but not longer than 2 years after graduation or internship Mandatory
- Valid practicing license that is up to date Mandatory
- Registered with the Nursing council of Kenya Mandatory

- Passionate about maternal and child health and community health nursing Mandatory
- Willingness to learn and develop knowledge and skills on human subject’s research Mandatory
