About Our Client
The South African subsidiary, of a European company that is a leader in its field, is looking for a Director of Finance & HR. As part of a multinational organisation, the subsidiary has operated in the South African market for the past decade, requiring a strong focus on financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and compliance with both local and international standards. This role demands expertise in financial stewardship, risk management, and HR leadership to ensure the subsidiary's long-term stability and growth. Responsibilities
- aintain and update company policies to align with labour laws and corporate governance
- Oversee internal audits and legal compliance for financial and HR operations
- Ensure all company departments adhere to internal and external regulations
Key Responsibilities and KPIs
Finance and Accounting
- Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, ensuring that all financial strategies align with the company's performance goals.
- KPI: Accuracy and timeliness of reports, variance analysis, compliance with standards
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- KPI: Budget adherence, forecast accuracy, cost-saving implementations
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to support ongoing business continuity.
- KPI: Cash flow accuracy, working capital ratio, Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)
- Ensure tax compliance, regulatory adherence, and risk management.
- KPI: Audit findings, tax compliance, effectiveness of internal controls
- Oversee payroll operations and statutory reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax regulations.
- KPI: On-time payroll disbursement, employee satisfaction, tax filing accuracy
- Work with other teams to align financial strategies with company goals.
- KPI: Success of interdepartmental projects, financial strategy alignment
Human Resources Management
- Develop HR strategies for recruitment, retention, and engagement.
- KPI: Employee retention, engagement scores, conflict resolution effectiveness
- Oversee performance evaluations and talent development programs.
- KPI: Appraisal completion rates, employee improvement metrics
- Ensure alignment of HR policies with labour laws and best practices.
- KPI: Compliance audit results, policy effectiveness
- Mentor and lead HR and finance teams.
- KPI: Employee retention, training completion rates
- Drive HR strategies in alignment with company growth objectives.
- KPI: HR initiative success, stakeholder engagement
- Ensure clear communication of HR policies and organisational changes.
- KPI: Employee awareness, change initiative transparency
The Successful Applicant
Requirements and Qualifications
Hard Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
- 10+ years of senior leadership experience in finance and HR functions
- Expertise in IFRS, German GAAP, and corporate tax compliance
- Experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and financial restructuring
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP
- Proven HR leadership experience, including performance management and talent acquisition
- Experience in internal and external audits
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
- High ethical standards with a focus on integrity and compliance
