Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners.
Context:
he Office of Staff Security (OSS) is responsible for providing leadership on security policy management and Country Office operational support to enable the effective implementation and delivery of IOM programmes and activities, while managing risks at acceptable levels. As part of the wider IOM Diversity and Inclusion programme, OSS diversity and inclusion programme aims to diversify IOM’s security workforce by providing opportunities to talented young professionals who have nontraditional security backgrounds to work in various areas of the security risk management. At the end of the programme, individuals will have familiarity of the IOM and UN Security Management System and will have acquired new knowledge, skills, and behaviour on the specific security area they have worked in.
Supervision Under the overall supervision of the Director of OSS and direct supervision of the Security Policy and Training Coordination Officer (SPTCO); and in collaboration with the OSS Regional Security Officers and OSS Administrative and Finance personnel, the Intern – Office of Staff Security (Training and PCA) will be responsible and accountable for providing administrative support on the global training and learning activities of the Office of Staff Security (OSS).
Responsibilities
- Assist the SPTCO in designing materials for the IOM Security Decision-Makers’ Learning Programme.
- Assist in the planning and organization of the pilot for the IOM Security Decision-Makers’ Learning Programme.
- Assist in the planning and organization of the IOM-hosted Field Security Associate’s course.
- Design and develop learning materials and guidelines for disability considerations in training and learning.
- Support the SPTCO in the activities of the Inter-Agency Security Management Network’s (IASMN) Gender and Inclusion Sub-Working Group on Training.
- Gather data and draft a report on the IOM Global Security Training Statistics for the 1st half of 2024.
- Generate and review the list of locations where the Safe and Secure Awareness in the Field Environment (SSAFE) training, the Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) training, and the Women’s Security Awareness Training (WSAT) are identified as Security Risk Management Measures for the Organizational Effectiveness and Efficiency (OEE) reporting and as part of the 2025 IOM training needs assessment and analysis.
